|things are looking up
it's not easy trying to lead the troops into battle, but the battle must be fought and it will be fought and won. we will die before we lose.
going to get the business license next week. made a new friend who interns at Drag City records. hopefully will be able to extract a lot of good information from him. Kendra joined the orange drink collective. she's the queen of artwork layout and formatting. she has shown a lot of dedication and is really putting herself into the work. she deserves as much recognition as anyone else who is on this team (army).
we have a lot of plans, and i am getting excited to carry them all out. it is difficult at times to maintain optimism, but when it is good, it is great.

|PETA drinks vegan orange drink for breakfast
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has agreed to send promotional material to orange drink for distribution to orange drink fans at shows. this is our first "corporate sponsorship" of sorts, and i'm very excited about it. they will send stickers and informational pamphlets (propaganda). the official orange drink stance will be to support vegetarianism, but never (hopefully) to chastise anyone's meat-eating ways. tolerance is a two-way street. PETA is certainly a controversial organization in that regard. they have been very helpful to me; when i first decided to become vegetarian, their starter kit helped me get excited about my decision and help ease the initial anxiety i had about it. my mother helped me with some of the recipies found in the starter kit, and i remember us thinking, "wow, i had no idea vegetarian food could be this good!"
i'm thinking about purchasing:
1) Pro Tools + MBox
2) Behringer BCF-2000
3) Shure SM57
things i need to do:
1) format shirt and sweatshirt design
2) find shirt printer
3) format album artwork layout
4) send layout to manufacturer
5) format button designs
6) send designs to manufacturer
7) obtain business license
8) open business bank account
9) obtain business credit card
10) design flyers for new album and store
11) post more flyers
12) call back venues to confirm receipt of press kits
13) create new press kits
14) create new website design

|The Big Horse Lounge Show - 11/19/4
sorry for taking so long to post. i just got a job at bank of america and have been quite busy with training. it is 12/4/4 and this entry is backdated.
on 11/19 orange drink played its first show in chicago, illinois. there were roughly 18 people in attendance. the opening band did not show up, so it was just us and the Big Horse staff. it went really well. i had a great time.
here is the set list:
1) falling out of a window
2) never coming home
3) sleeping is not a crime
5) so now then
6) the economist
there were musical interludes in between each song. there was also some audience banter and puppeteering. here is a photograph taken by the number one orange drink fan, audra, who flew in from richmond, virginia for the show.

|orange drink was in a play!
I saw the play Un-American Activities
by Experimental Theatre Chicago tonight. Throughout the show, cast members gave short monologues of interesting stories that added to their idea of "what is america?"
Lorelei, one of the actors, got up and said:
"So I was riding my bike down North Avenue, and I saw this flyer that said:
Are You Obsessed With Death?
Do You Question Your Reasons For Living?
Do You Play A Musical Instrument?"
That is an Orange Drink flyer!!!

|this happened a few weeks ago...
i was outside the Damen stop train station, handing out flyers, and the CTA worker who is sweeping the sidewalk asks me what i'm doing. i tell him i'm handing out flyers for my band. he asks "who is going to play the guitar?" and i tell him that i am.
then then asks, "what is this car?"
and i say, "it's a hearse"
he asks again, not understanding me, "what is this car?"
and i say again, "it's a hearse...FUNERAL COACH"
he looks scared, quickly shakes his head "no" and hands me back the flyer.
